The delivery of 22 new affordable Dubbo homes has passed an important milestone, with the release of detailed development plans to the local community.
Member for the Dubbo electorate Dugald Saunders said the NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) had notified plans to build 14 new homes at Jubilee Street, Dubbo and a further eight homes at Short Street, Dubbo. Both of these new projects will be set aside for seniors.
“These developments form part of the NSW Government’s investment in new, fit-for-purpose affordable housing across regional NSW,” Mr Saunders said.
“These two redevelopment projects will deliver the required renewal through the creation of new, modern housing for vulnerable community members.”
Mr Saunders said neighbours and Dubbo Regional Council had been invited to comment on the detailed development plans, which have a combined construction value of approximately $7.8 million.
“The release of detailed plans will ensure we get important local input before we finalise the planning process and begin construction,” he said.
“Apart from providing much-needed low-cost housing, these projects also create around 40 full-time local jobs during the year-long construction period.”
Both projects have been specifically designed to complement the character of the surrounding neighbourhood.
The Jubilee Street project is proposed to include eight two-bedroom units and six one-bedroom units, with eight one-bedroom units proposed at Short Street.
LAHC will be responsible for seeking community feedback and determining the development proposal.
Subject to planning approval, construction of the project should begin around mid- 2020, with the first residents likely to move in mid-2021.
